This VIRTUAL Masterclass will be delivered by IBICUS via ZOOM by a fully-trained leader. The timings are 09:00-13:30 UK time with a set-up / introductory meeting starting at 08:30 UK time. Please note that IBICUS Masterclasses are not official IB PD workshops are any certificates issues do not count towards school authorisation and evaluation.
With the rapid adoption of generative AI in education, many IB schools are now developing their own AI Policy. Such a policy provides a framework for all stakeholders (students, teachers, parents), on how AI may be used ethically, responsibly and effectively.
When developing an AI policy, three key factors relating to compliance and academic integrity must be considered: (i) national legislation and regulatory requirements, (ii) school culture and values, (iii) the IB Academic Integrity policy (latest version: May 2026). Additional considerations include data privacy and safeguarding obligations, ethical issues, pedagogical goals, equity of access, not to mention assessment practices, particularly for TOK, EE and some Internal Assessment tasks.
In this Masterclass, participants will explore the implications of these factors within their own school context, examine examples of school AI policies and begin drafting or refining their school's AI policy.
