Anyone can attend an IB workshop regardless of whether they work in an IB World School – indeed some workshops are ideal for those teachers and leaders who work in other school programmes.

IBICUS workshops are official IB Professional Development workshops and are required by the IB for IB World School authorisation and evaluation purposes.

Yes, all IBICUS workshops are fully authorised and certified by the IBO, and you receive an IBO Certificate of Attendance by email within 7 days of completion of a workshop (subject to payment of your workshop invoice).

We have a wide variety of workshops on offer to suit all teachers at all stages in their IB journey from Category 1 subjects (for those new to the IB or those in schools going through authorisation) through to Leadership workshops for SLT, Heads and Board members. Category 1
Category 1 workshops focus on IB philosophy and implementation. They provide professional development and assistance for schools that have decided to apply for IB authorisation. They are also relevant for educators who are new to a school with an existing IB programme and those interested in joining an IB school.

Category 2
For educators with IB experience, the focus is on various elements of specific programme delivery.
All category 2 workshops are for administrators, coordinators and teachers who:

• have been working with the programme for at least one school year
• have previously attended a category 1 workshop (scheduled or requested) facilitated by workshop leaders organised by or through the IB.

Category 3
Category 3 workshops focus on subject area delivery and deepening understanding and meaning of an IB education.  Although often described for experienced teachers, Category 3 workshops do not have to be completed after Category 1 & 2 as they take a deep dive into a specific topic e.g. Supporting IB Students in the University Admissions Process or Building student competencies.  For most Category 3 workshops there are no preliminary (Cat 1 or Cat 2) options with the exception of MYP assessment in all subject areas and DP assessment in Maths and Sciences.

Category 3 workshops are available in all 4 programmes and there are some workshops which span the programmes under the following headings:

IB Education
Explores four foundational and interrelated elements that are central to all IB programmes:

• International-mindedness
• The IB learner profile
• A broad, balanced, conceptual and connected curriculum
• Approaches to teaching and learning

This series of workshops challenges you to explore the question “What is an IB education?”. Participants engage in provocative learning experiences around challenging ideas central to the IB’s mission to make the world a better place through education. These workshops are available as either cross-programme experiences or as a single programme focus and cover things like

Building student competencies
Educational belonging – fostering diversity and equity

Leadership
IB leadership workshops provide leaders at all levels with opportunities for conversation, reflection and growth by developing a deeper understanding of their role in the IB ecosystem. Leaders will inquire into school context, community, and culture, as well as the global IB ecosystem. They will expand their leadership knowledge and skills through an exploration of the IB’s leadership intelligence framework, strategies and protocols.

• A copy of your subject guide (if appropriate).   You can access this through MyIB with log-in details provided by your school programme Coordinator.  If you are not currently working in an IB World School and do not have access to MyIB, please let us know and we will find a way to assist you.
• Teacher support material (TSM) available through MyIB
• A laptop or iPad as all materials are shared electronically during the workshop.  For virtual workshops you may also want headphones and will need a strong internet connection in a quiet place, ideally where you will be undisturbed.

No, under IBO rules sessions are not recorded so if you do miss a session you will not be able to catch up later.  Do please note that under IBO rules you do need to attend all sessions of a workshop in order to qualify for your IB Certificate of Attendance. 

The timings for virtual workshops are 09:00-13:30 UK time on all three days of the workshop with a pre-workshop set-up meeting starting at 08:30 on Day 1.  

Timings for face-to-face workshops are broadly all day (08:30-16:30 local time) on Day 1 and 2 and a finish time of 12:30 on Day 3.  Flights out after the workshop are normally suggested for 15:00 or later on Day 3.

You can pay either by credit card or by bank transfer direct to our bank.  If you have made a bank transfer booking and wish to settle your account by card, please contact us at admin@ibicus.org.uk and we can send you a credit card link.  

Please ensure that you have paid for your workshop by the due date to avoid the risk of your place being cancelled. 

If you are more than 14 days late with a payment, an additional late payment fee of £50 (or equivalent value in another currency) per workshop participant will be added to your account. We will not issue any Certificates of Attendance until your account is cleared.  Late payment fees will be added monthly until your account is cleared.

If you have made a booking but the workshop subject has not yet been confirmed by us in writing, you can cancel the booking and receive a credit note or full refund.

If you have made a booking with us and the confirmation has been sent, the full fees are still payable but you can change the name of your teacher in the same subject at the same workshop at no charge. Any other changes incur a change fee of £150 (or equivalent value in another currency). Workshop bookings cannot be cancelled once they are confirmed and non-attendance will still be charged in full.

These workshops are fully authorised and certified by the IBO and our virtual workshops are delivered by experts who are fully trained by the IB. You must attend all sessions to receive your certificate. Your certificate will be emailed to you after the workshop.
