Why book with IBICUS?
Category 1 workshops focus on IB philosophy and implementation. They provide professional development and assistance for schools that have decided to apply for IB authorisation. They are also relevant for educators who are new to a school with an existing IB programme and those interested in joining an IB school. Participants will gain an understanding of: the basic philosophy and curricular model of the programme, including the IB mission statement, learner profile, and curriculum documents programme standards and practices appropriate to the participants’ role (e.g., teacher, administrator, head of school, and so on) the appropriate programme framework (PYP, MYP, DP)
Teachers who are new to an IB programme will:
Please note: Category 1 workshops will only spend 1–2 sessions on the course designs/outlines. If new teachers already have a course outline, they will be able to review it and discuss it with the workshop leader.
Category 2 workshops focus on programme delivery. They emphasise assessment, teaching and learning methodologies, and exploring best practice in the classroom. The goals of these workshops are to enhance the understanding of the IB philosophy and programme model and improve the quality of programme delivery. Participants will:

Please note: Category 2 workshops assume participants have experience of teaching their particular IB programme. Participants will be expected to have a good understanding and practical experience in the assessment so they can share good practices.
Category 3 workshops vary in terms of audience. Some are for more experienced educators who want to enhance their professional development portfolios. Others are for all educators – those with and those without a great deal of experience.
Participants will engage in detailed discussions on topics such as learning theory, pedagogy, assessment, and other scholarly interests. Category 3 workshops go more deeply into specific areas.
These workshops also cover subject-specific content, administrative and pedagogical leadership, and subject-specific seminars on changes to the IB curriculum.
Note: Teachers and other school leaders who do not teach in an IB World School but wish to sample IB learning may choose to participate in a Category 3 workshop.
Completion of the required professional development (PD) is a significant part of the candidacy phase. The following must be completed prior to the submission of the Application for authorisation in order to meet the PD requirements for authorisation.

It is expected that the professional development has taken place before the verification visit.
VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS
IBICUS virtual workshops are delivered via ZOOM and run from 09:00-13:30 UK time each day with a pre-workshop set-up meeting at 08:30 UK time on Day 1.
IBICUS virtual workshop fees include all tuition and access to materials throughout the workshop.
IBICUS official IB virtual workshops feature the use of ZOOM* as a platform and unless stated otherwise, take place over 3 consecutive days for 4.5 hours per day. This means that they are intensive and very focussed while allowing the opportunity for interaction and discussion both with the workshop leader and other participants. Participants will work independently both on and offline and there is also the chance to hold discussions and work collaboratively with other participants both individually and in groups through the use of breakout rooms.
As soon as you book, you will receive a booking acknowledgement email and a second email with your workshop invoice. Once we have received sufficient enrolment to confirm that the workshop will go ahead, you will receive an email stating that your workshop is confirmed. This means that your place is confirmed and cannot be cancelled as all workshops are confirmed on the basis of participation.
Around 10 days before your workshop, you will be contacted by your workshop leader with an introduction to the workshop, the draft agenda and you will have the chance to interact and raise any burning issues which might be able to be addressed in the workshop. You may also be asked to complete a pre-workshop questionnaire and/or some form of preparatory work/reading.
Two days before the workshop, you will receive a link to the workshop along with any final instructions from your workshop leader.

FACE-TO-FACE WORKSHOPS
IBICUS face-to-face workshops normally run over 2.5 days from 08:30-16:30 on Day 1 and 2 and 08:30 to 12:30 on Day 3.
IBICUS workshop fees include all tuition, lunches on Day 1 and 2 and refreshment breaks throughout your workshop.
Note that workshop fees are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate in the host country; a late booking surcharge will be applied to all bookings made within 21 days of a workshop start date.
As soon as you book, you will receive a booking acknowledgement email and a second email with your workshop invoice. Anyone can attend an IB workshop regardless of whether they work in an IB World School – indeed some workshops are ideal for those teachers and leaders who work in other school programmes.
IBICUS workshops are official IB Professional Development workshops and are required by the IB for IB World School authorisation and evaluation purposes.
Yes, all IBICUS workshops are fully authorised and certified by the IBO, and you receive an IBO Certificate of Attendance by email within 7 days of completion of a workshop (subject to payment of your workshop invoice).

Category 1
Category 1 workshops focus on IB philosophy and implementation. They provide professional development and assistance for schools that have decided to apply for IB authorisation. They are also relevant for educators who are new to a school with an existing IB programme and those interested in joining an IB school.
Category 2
For educators with IB experience, the focus is on various elements of specific programme delivery.
All category 2 workshops are for administrators, coordinators and teachers who:
Category 3
Category 3 workshops focus on subject area delivery and deepening understanding and meaning of an IB education. Although often described for experienced teachers, Category 3 workshops do not have to be completed after Category 1 & 2 as they take a deep dive into a specific topic e.g. Supporting IB Students in the University Admissions Process or Building student competencies. For most Category 3 workshops there are no preliminary (Cat 1 or Cat 2) options with the exception of MYP assessment in all subject areas and DP assessment in Maths and Sciences.

This series of workshops challenges you to explore the question “What is an IB education?”. Participants engage in provocative learning experiences around challenging ideas central to the IB’s mission to make the world a better place through education. Leadership
IB leadership workshops provide leaders at all levels with opportunities for conversation, reflection and growth by developing a deeper understanding of their role in the IB ecosystem. Leaders will inquire into school context, community, and culture, as well as the global IB ecosystem. They will expand their leadership knowledge and skills through an exploration of the IB’s leadership intelligence framework, strategies and protocols.

No, under IBO rules sessions are not recorded so if you do miss a session you will not be able to catch up later. Do please note that under IBO rules you do need to attend all sessions of a workshop in order to qualify for your IB Certificate of Attendance.
The timings for virtual workshops are 09:00-13:30 UK time on all three days of the workshop with a pre-workshop set-up meeting starting at 08:30 on Day 1.
Timings for face-to-face workshops are broadly all day (08:30-16:30 local time) on Day 1 and 2 and a finish time of 12:30 on Day 3. Flights out after the workshop are normally suggested for 15:00 or later on Day 3.
You can pay either by credit card or by bank transfer direct to our bank. If you have made a bank transfer booking and wish to settle your account by card, please contact us at admin@ibicus.org.uk and we can send you a credit card link.
Please ensure that you have paid for your workshop by the due date to avoid the risk of your place being cancelled.
If you are more than 14 days late with a payment, an additional late payment fee of £50 (or equivalent value in another currency) per workshop participant will be added to your account. We will not issue any Certificates of Attendance until your account is cleared. Late payment fees will be added monthly until your account is cleared.
If you have made a booking but the workshop subject has not yet been confirmed by us in writing, you can cancel the booking and receive a credit note or full refund.
If you have made a booking with us and the confirmation has been sent, the full fees are still payable but you can change the name of your teacher in the same subject at the same workshop at no charge. Any other changes incur a change fee of £150 (or equivalent value in another currency). Workshop bookings cannot be cancelled once they are confirmed and non-attendance will still be charged in full.
These workshops are fully authorised and certified by the IBO and our virtual workshops are delivered by experts who are fully trained by the IB. You must attend all sessions to receive your certificate. Your certificate will be emailed to you after the workshop.
