About the workshop

Recommended for School leaders, Middle Years Programme (MYP) coordinators and lead teachers in subject groups who want to deepen their understanding of the MYP assessment model.

This workshop is intended for leaders of learning in the MYP who want to deepen their understanding of the MYP assessment model and how they lead it in their own context. Participants will explore how they can use their leadership intelligences to lead IB assessment principles in their own context by reflecting on the timing of assessment in their schools, what its purpose is, and how students are assessed. Guided by the IB standards and practices, leaders will develop a portfolio of artefacts to inform their school’s IB assessment policy and ensure it is a living document that can be referenced by the entire community of learners.

Key concepts:

  • Considering assessment as an integral part of inquiry leads to deeper and more meaningful learning.
  • Leaders who understand the role of assessment within the inquiry process are able to promote an environment for and of learning.
  • Meaningful collaboration and discussions on the purpose of assessment help schools align local requirements to IB assessment practices.
  • Understanding the importance of developing a school-wide culture of assessment supports lifelong learners.
