Masterclass Format

This VIRTUAL Masterclass will be delivered by IBICUS via ZOOM by a fully-trained leader. The timings are 09:00-13:30 UK time with a set-up / introductory meeting starting at 08:30 UK time.  Please note that IBICUS Masterclasses are not official IB PD workshops are any certificates issues do not count towards school authorisation and evaluation.

About the Masterclass

This masterclass provides a forum for both new and experienced teachers and school leaders to understand the impact of formative assessment on student learning in order to drive whole-school improvement.

Throughout the masterclass, participants will get the chance to explore current academic research, analyse the key components that make formative assessment strategies successful, and discuss practical approaches to embedding these strategies into everyday classroom practice.

This masterclass is recommended for all educators who are teaching or preparing to implement high-impact formative assessment, and for school leaders who are keen to improve classroom learning and student outcomes by:

  • developing a better understanding of the most effective formative assessment strategies
  • reviewing assessment practices to ensure they support excellent student progress
  • collaborating to create tools and approaches that can be used in all subject areas
  • discussing ways to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of formative assessment school-wide

As a participant you will have the opportunity to:

  • design more effective formative assessment systems for your school that support sustained student progress
  • enhance your understanding of how formative assessment drives teaching and learning
  • develop strategies to better support teachers and strengthen whole-school performance
