Masterclass Format

This VIRTUAL Masterclass will be delivered by IBICUS via ZOOM by a fully-trained leader. The timings are 09:00-13:30 UK time with a set-up / introductory meeting starting at 08:30 UK time.  Please note that IBICUS Masterclasses are not official IB PD workshops are any certificates issues do not count towards school authorisation and evaluation.

About the Masterclass

This Masterclass aims to develop teachers’ understanding of the new DP Psychology assessment model (first assessment 2027), including the revised syllabus structure, conceptual framework, and updated expectations for Papers 1, 2, and 3. Teachers will build confidence in preparing students for the new examination demands, with an emphasis on conceptual application, research literacy, and critical thinking.

This Masterclass will focus on:

• planning teaching and learning to align with the new conceptual framework and updated prescribed content
• preparing students for Paper 1, with clear strategies for writing strong responses using the new command terms and assessment objectives
• supporting students in Paper 2, including how to teach and assess applied psychology options under the new structure
• building the research and methodological understanding required for Paper 3, including analysis, evaluation, and application of psychological inquiry
• integrating thinking skills, approaches to research, and ethical understanding across the two-year course
• designing formative assessments that mirror the new examination model

• a clear understanding of the new assessment model, markbands, and expectations for first assessment 2027
• strategies for teaching and scaffolding strong responses across all three papers
• updated sample assessment questions, stems, and practice activities aligned with the revised curriculum
• practical approaches for teaching research methods and the newly emphasised research skills
• ideas and classroom tools for strengthening students’ conceptual understanding, application of research, and critical thinking

This Masterclass is provided by IBICUS Ltd, a fully licensed provider of teacher training to the IB community. While IBICUS certificates of attendance may be issued, these Masterclasses are not IB-certified official workshops and therefore do not contribute to school authorisation or evaluation processes.
