Marwa Bkerat

Marwa is an experienced education professional with over 25 years of expertise in the field. She holds a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Sunderland in the UK and a Certificate in Advanced Education Leadership (CAEL) from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She currently works at the Education Development Institute (EDI), part of Qatar Foundation, where she serves as Associate Director for Academic Development. Marwa actively contributes to the IBEN community, serving as an IB workshop leader, examiner, evaluation and programme leader. She also holds the role of Site Evaluator at the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and serves as a Visiting Team Member at the Council of International Schools (CIS). Previously, Marwa held a range of leadership positions, including serving as the Principal of Beacon Private School in Bahrain, alongside key roles at Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA) such as Programs Implementation Expert, Senior Teacher Educator, IB Workshops Manager and USAID Pre-Service Teacher Education Program Manager. Earlier in her career, as an IB DP Coordinator at a school in Saudi Arabia, Marwa was instrumental in establishing the DP department and supporting the DP authorization processes. She also served as the Biology Subject Leader and an IB DP Biology teacher at the same institution. Furthermore, Marwa is the author of Biology for IB Diploma Programme Course Preparation, published by Oxford University Press. She has delivered numerous IB workshops in different countries and for schools around the world, in addition to providing coaching, training, and mentoring to school colleagues.
