Kevin Purday

Kevin Purday is a practising professional social anthropologist and Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute who is currently head of social anthropology at Hockerill Anglo-European College in England and visiting lecturer in social anthropology at the University of Cape Town. His great passions are shamanism and gender which he has researched in Mongolia, Myanmar, India, Indonesia and Malaysia. He is part of the small group who wrote the new Social and Cultural Anthropology syllabus the teaching of which started in September 2017/January 2018. He is also part of the group looking at how improvements can be made to the syllabus due to start in or about 2025/2026. He firmly believes that social anthropology is the most enjoyable, enlightening and rewarding subject imaginable.
