Jane Hanna

I am Jane Hanna, a lover of people, community and education. My enthusiasm and belief in the validity and strength of IB philosophy is evidenced by active involvement with the IB from many perspectives. Born in the United States, now living in the Netherlands, I currently work as an independent IB consultant; leading workshops, reading and writing for Diploma Programme evaluations, CAS programme monitoring, school verification and evaluation visits, IB, CIS, NEASC synchronized visits team member, DP session observer, consultant for DP candidate schools and a member of the most recent CAS curriculum review and development team.  Last, but not least I have two boys who are IBDP alumni and I attended an IB school during my youth.  My professional background and post secondary education is in the sciences; biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, and international public health. Many years have been spent in university, government and pharmaceutical company research labs.  One of the most rewarding jobs I have had was teaching high school mathematics, science and life skills in a maximum security correctional facility in the US. As a founding staff member at a school in Amsterdam, leading the development of the science department, teaching laboratory investigation for the DP group 4 sciences and implementing the DP CAS programme, MYP community service and recently the MYP Service as Action programmes.  In addition to consulting for the IB, I am involved in community youth education as a board of director’s member and programme developer for a non-profit organization; teaching students of all ages about leadership, personal character and social responsibility.
