About the workshop
The workshop is intended for teachers who have some experience in the programme and want to deepen their understanding and application of assessment in the MYP. The aim is to explore the different ways in which we can capture student learning in the Arts. We will discuss assessment philosophy and implementation in participants' schools, practice designing meaningful assessment tasks and applying the criteria purposefully. We will also make time to share successes / challenges and examples so that we can learn from each other.
In summary, the areas addressed are:
- MYP assessment philosophy / assessment policy
- Internal and external assessment (including ePortfolio)
- Designing summative assessment tasks with the Arts objectives in mind
- Formative assessment, leading to the summative task
- Exploring the idea of “authentic” assessment
- Assessment and differentiation
- Recording and reporting on assessment
Ideally, to benefit fully from the workshop, participants should be experienced MYP educators who have attended at least a category 2 workshop and who have experienced a minimum of two years teaching and assessing MYP in their school and/or subject group.
