GETTING FROM THE AIRPORT to the City Centre
Dubai International Airport has 3 terminals. Terminal 3 serves all Emirates and Qantas flights. Terminal 1 serves all other major international routes and airlines. Terminal 2 (further away and on the opposite side of the runway) serves Fly Dubai, regional and low cost carriers.
Dubai is also served by Al Maktoum International Airport (or Dubai World Central, DWC) which serves Wizz Gulf Air and Qatar Airways flights. This airport is situated to the south west of the city beyond Jebel Ali and is further away than Dubai International Airport.
The quickest way of making the journey from Dubai International Airport is by taxi, which should take around 30 minutes to the city centre. Taxis are plentiful at the airport and should cost approx. 75 AED for a single journey to the centre and/or the Novotel Al Barsha hotel.
Via Public Transport
Alternatively, you can also use the Dubai Metro which connects Dubai International Airport Terminals 1 and 3 with most central parts of Dubai. Trains run from 6am to 11pm every day except Fridays when they run from 2pm in the afternoon. You can buy tickets at the stations and/or use a Nol card which can be topped up for cashless use. There is a Gold Class carriage and areas specifically for women and children. You can take one piece of luggage and one piece of hand luggage on the metro.
(The nearest metro station to Dubai World Central is Ibn Battuta, which is a 20-30 minute taxi ride away).
The Novotel Al Barsha is situated very close to the Sharaf DG Metro Station
From the City Centre to the School
There are public buses but only in certain areas and on certain routes. The quickest and easiest way to get to and from the workshop venue is by car or taxi. There is plenty of parking directly outside the school.
If you need to book Taxis at any time, these are plentiful and reasonably priced in Dubai and you can hail one on the street or book by telephone on +971 4 2080808/ local dial 04 2080808
Or use Careem, an online taxi booking and tracking service, or Uber from your smartphone.
