David Spooner

David Spooner has been a teacher for all of his working life. Before becoming a school teacher, he was a lecturer at the University of Castilla-La Mancha in Spain, and then at the Open University in the UK. However, he then decided to retrain to become a school teacher, and life suddenly became much more interesting. He has taught IB Philosophy, and ToK since 1999, in a variety of countries including Greece, Finland, Lebanon, Jordan, Italy, France, and is now a Curriculum Coordinator/IBDPC in Ghana. He has been an IB teacher trainer since 2004, and has a range of examining experience. He was also part of the Philosophy Curriculum Review team responsible for the current IB Diploma Philosophy Guide. In addition to this, he is an IB Verification Visitor and Consultant for schools wishing to adopt the IB Diploma. He is a proud graduate of the Universities of Wales, Bristol UWE, and the UNED in Spain, and when he is not indulging his passions of travelling, rock-climbing, hiking, photography or lying on a beach doing nothing, still enjoys teaching. His favourite role-model Philosopher is Socrates who, of course, was well-known for making a nuisance of himself and getting into trouble with the authorities for challenging them with irritating but important questions.
