David Allen

Dave has taught IB for eight years while working at UWCSEA in Singapore. In addition to Chemistry, he taught ToK and a school-based syllabus called Science and Technology in Society. He is an extremely experienced assessor. He also moderates and assesses for OCR, AQA, CIE, WJEC and Edexel. Dave has run a number of level 1, 2 and 3 face-to-face workshops in Malaysia, the UK, Austria, Germany, Spain and Switzerland as well as numerous online workshops covering an introduction to IBDP Chemistry (Level 1), the new course for first assessment 2016 (Level 2) and developing lab work (Level 3). Dave writes the Chemistry blog for OSC (http://blogs.osc-ib.com/ib-blogs/ib-teacher-blogs/dp_chemistry/). Chemistry aside, Dave values highly and is very passionate about CAS. He worked in Aceh after the 2004 tsunami and was involved in the Blair Forster Memorial Trust supporting East Timorese students. In the UK he has been involved with SHINE which has involved providing enrichment lessons to primary school children from needy backgrounds, as well as developing links with his school and a youth club in inner-city Southampton. At his current school, he is the Director of Community Action and coordinator of PSHE.
